PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.
The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different times.
Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.
The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.
Yet, the southern French side fired two times late to seize a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.
In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty victory.
The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
